About Bench Press & Push-Pull

LASAA's Bench Press & Push-Pull contest is held at LASD's STAR Center in Whittier. This event is open to ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT & FIRE PERSONNEL both sworn and professional. Although you do not have to be a LASAA member to participate, LASAA members are free!

LASAA Bench Press & Push-Pull competitions feature state-of-the-art equipment that is IPF approved.

Entry fees for non-LASAA members are as follows: $30 for either Bench Press OR Push-Pull, $40 for BOTH events.

The rules are based upon IPF - International Powerlifting Federation and CPAF - California Police Athletic Federation rules.

ALL COMPETITORS MUST WEAR A SINGLET FOR ALL LIFTS. DEADLIFT COMPETITORS MUST ALSO WEAR KNEE SOCKS.

Competitors are divided into categories defined by sex, body weight, and age.

Age groups: Open 20-29, Senior 30-39, Master 40-49, Grand Master 50-59, Senior Grand Master 60 and over.

Weight classes are as follows:

Women- 105,114,123,132,148,165,181,181+

Men- 132,148,165,181,198,220,242,275,275+

Each competitor is allowed three attempts at the lift in which he or she is competing. The lifter's best successful attempt counts as his or her total. The winner in each category is the lifter who achieves the highest total.

Teams (bench press only) consist of 3 to 10 members from your station/unit of assignment.
