I began competing in the Police Olympics in 1982, initially focusing on powerlifting, but also participating in events such as tug-of-war, Toughest Cop Alive (TCA), softball, bench press, and push-pull. In 1995, I joined the LASAA board and began helping to organize its biannual bench press contests, which later evolved into push-pull competitions.
For two years, while serving as an LASD sergeant, I coordinated the 2009 Western States Police and Fire Games, a collaborative effort between LASD and LASAA.
Currently, I serve on the board of the California Police Athletic Federation, which organizes the annual United States Police and Fire Championships, the First Responders Relay, and the bi-annual World Police and Fire Games.
